Lynley Dodd is a celebrated New Zealand author and illustrator whose imaginative stories and rhythmic text have delighted readers worldwide. Best known for her series featuring the mischievous Hairy Maclary and his friends, Dodd has written and illustrated numerous books for young readers that have become beloved classics.
Born in Rotorua, New Zealand, Dodd trained in graphic design at the Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland before embarking on her writing career. Her first book, My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes, co-written with Eve Sutton, was published in 1973 and established her reputation as a master storyteller with a unique flair for the whimsical.
