Biodance or biodanza is a group activity aiming for self-development and to increase the quality of life. The word biodanza is a combination of the Greek bios (life) and Spanish danza (dance) and means dance of life. It was introduced in the sixties by psychologist and medical anthropologist Rolando Toro Araneda from South-America. Biodance uses music, movement, expression and a sense of solidarity to stimulate the development and integration of the five lifelines vitality, sexuality, creativity, affection and transcendence.
